Where to eat at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2018

When August comes around, Edinburgh becomes one of the most cosmopolite places in Scotland. The Edinburgh Fringe Festival is arguably one of the most important events in our calendars. The days become longer and a dinner out becomes a must after a show. Thankfully Edinburgh is home to a variety of restaurants that cater for all dietary requirements and preferences. These are a few of our suggestions, but keep in mind the pop-up restaurants and street food available during The Fringe:

Hog roast on the move, and perhaps the best pulled pork sandwich you’ll ever try whilst in Edinburgh. Choose between a sandwich and a box, and in four steps you’ll have a delicious, on the go meal: select the size, the bread, the stuffing and the sauce.

Mexican food, tequila, mezcal, beer, cocktails in the heart of the city, close to Waverley station and main bus routes. The food is fabulous: Campechano with flat iron steak, chorizo, arbol salsa, mozzarella, onion & coriander, sesame battered king prawn, coconut milk chipotle, pico de gallo & coriander, Taco de Gambas with coconut tempura prawn, tropical pico de gallo, pasilla purée, savoy cabbage & crema.

A beautiful wee place on Broughton Street, with friendly staff and delicious food. The place is small and quite popular with the locals so reserving a table may be a good decision. They currently have a lunch offer for £12 for two courses, pre-theatre at £15 for two courses, and an a la carte.

Amber Restaurant at the Scotch Whisky Experience

If you’re near the Royal Mile, you must not miss this place. Because, yes- you should have a whiskey experience when in Scotland! And when you have amazing food to go with it, then it’s a no-brainer!

They call themselves “a warm a cosy bar to call your own in the heart of the city”. We think they serve one of the best burgers in Edinburgh. So if you’re watching a show in this area of the city, stop by and get a bite to eat.
