A luxury spa weekend break. Stobo Castle in the Scottish Borders

#WhenInScotland have a #SpaBreak
Last Friday we packed our bags and set of to Peebles in the Scottish Borders for “our luxury spa spa break”. Once a year, we go away for a weekend in two – a quiet, relaxing time for the two of us.

A luxury spa break experience

We both have busy work lives, and find it hard to disconnect from “work mode”, and relax. It’s easy to forget we can step away from rush, from easy, quick food, and find a much calmer pace. Stobo did exactly this: the moment we stepped through the main door we were invited to relax.

Our package and spa treatments were indeed ... soStobo

What is included in a Spa Package

We were on a residential package that includes two nights’ accommodation plus one Express Facial (25 mins) and a Full Body Massage (55 mins) (from a choice of other treatments). All food is included in the package, and the staff can accommodate dietary requirements. We spent Saturday moving from the pool side to the sauna room and the other spa facilities. The treatments were absolutely superb. The staff is very experience and accommodate any specific requirements (I have a lower back pain and tend to avoid massages that can lead to any pain).

Food at Stobo Castle

Lunch is served in the restaurant or you can eat in the spa café in the atrium. Both places maintain the relaxing atmosphere, and guests can dine in their robes – a massive benefit if you had spent all morning relaxing in the spa.

For lunch, we have chosen food from the cold buffet with salads, cold meats. However, the buffet also offers a hot section that had a vegetarian option. We were told that main ingredients are sourced locally and are beautifully cooked. The spa café serves soups, salads, sandwiches, sweet treats and other nibbles.

Cocktail Bar

The cocktail bar was a favourite too. It remains a tranquil place like the rest of the hotel.
However it offers a space for “a chat over a glass” of anything from water to wine.

The Japanese Water Garden at Stobo

Since we had spent all of Saturday indoors, Sunday morning we went for a stroll on the grounds of the estate.
Only a few minutes walk away from the hotel, the Japanese Garden is lovely to visit in any weather. Nooks and crannies to sit on, water falls and streams – a tranquil place, and a fantastic start of the day.
