3 options for the Easter weekend
The weather has not been very kind to us this spring. However, we have high hopes for the Easter Weekend. I have just finished drafting the meal plan for Easter Sunday, and I am also organising a few activities – to get us out and about.
Edinburgh Weekend 2018 looks full of opportunities for those planning to take the family out of the house. Here are some of the places we are looking at. If you are in Edinburgh and have any other suggestion, please comment below and share your ideas.
Easter egg-stavaganza at Dynamic Earth
Dynamic Earth is a visitor attraction in Edinburgh located at 112 Holyrood Rd, Edinburgh EH8 8AS.
You can find it in the Holyrood area, beside the Scottish Parliament building. If you are near any of these two places, or and at the foot of Arthur’s Seat, don’t miss it out!
We used to have Dynamic Earth memberships for ourselves and the boys as this is one of those locations easy to get to, versatile in terms of lunch options (they have a restaurant as well as a picnic area), and with interesting events happening through the year.
From 31 March until 15 April, the tickets will include access to a variety of activities. ‘Operation Earth’ – tying in with the Edinburgh International Science Festival, Meet the Expert days are only a couple. Check out their “What’s On” to help you plan your visit.
Easter on the board of Britannia
Royal Yacht Britannia, is the former royal yacht of the British monarch, Queen Elizabeth II, in service from 1954 until 1997, and a great option if you happened to be in Leight.
Royal Yacht Britannia is located at Ocean Drive, Leith, Edinburgh EH6 6JJ, about two miles from the city centre, and only 15 minutes drive from Princes Street.
There’s a great tour for children on board with a children’s version of our complimentary audio guide. This year there is also a LEGO replica model of Britannia, created using 40,000 LEGO bricks, and measuring over 11 feet in length.
Eggstaordinary Easter at Lauriston Castle
And if you want to get away from the city centre, check out Lauriston Castle.
Located at 2 Cramond Road South, Edinburgh, EH4 6AD, and very close to Cramond beach, it is an ideal place for a family day out.
If you’re looking to spend the Easter Sunday with woodland trails, egg and spoon race, crafts and many other Easter treats, have a look at tickets for their event. The event happens between 10:00 – 13:00, so if you want to avoid the crowd, visit the castle in the afternoon.
Hope these will inspire you to spend the Easter in the city, out and about.
